The artist

Mariah Birsak is an Amsterdam-based artist, known for her captivating acrylic paintings. Her artistic journey began in Rotterdam, where she studied Illustration (BA) at the Willem de Kooning art academy. After graduation, she moved to Amsterdam to pursue her passion as an artist.

Mariah is consumed by a deep passion for creating acrylic paintings that transport viewers into beautifully imagined, unknown spaces. With each brush stroke, she seeks to capture the intricate interplay between bravery and hesitancy, wonder and excitement, drawing inspiration from the natural world around her. In her work, she often project the image of leopards as alter egos, a symbol of both strength and vulnerability.

With a keen eye for color and composition, she crafts each painting to be both bold and delicate at the same time. Her use of untamed nature and understated interiors evokes a synesthetic image in the minds of viewers, drawing them into a world that is simultaneously familiar and otherworldly.

Her striking mise-en-scène is designed to grip the viewer's mind and intrigue the imagination. Through her unique blend of color and form, she seeks to transport the audience into the very scene of the artwork, leaving a lasting impression that lingers long after the painting is no longer in view.

With each new work, she strives to push the boundaries of her own artistic vision, creating compositions that are at once hauntingly beautiful and impossibly compelling.

Mariah's work has been exhibited in galleries and exhibitions across Europe, South-Korea and Australia, and her paintings have been collected by individuals and institutions alike. Her unique approach to color and composition has garnered her critical acclaim and a loyal following.
